Families with more than 6,000 children among them will pick out holiday gifts on Dec. 20 and 21 at MARTA’s annual Holiday Shop at its Atlanta headquarters.
The shop is operated by MARTA’s Charity Club with donations from the transit system’s employees. The holiday gifts include bicycles and toys.
Recipients were pre-selected by United Way for the event that opens at 8 a.m. on Friday in the atrium of MARTA headquarters, 2424 Piedmont Road N.E.
MARTA board members, General Manager/CEO Keith T. Parker, and representatives of the Amalgamated Transit Union will welcome the families.
MARTA’s Charity Club has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for organizations such as the March of Dimes and other charities across the Atlanta region.
