Father of DeKalb spokesman dies on Christmas Day

Friends and colleagues are sending condolences after the Christmas Day death of DeKalb spokesman Burke Brennan’s father, William Burke Brennan, Jr. in Jackson, MS. A funeral was held Saturday in Jackson, “I know that Burke and his family would appreciate your prayers during this especially difficult time.” Communications manager Angela Walton said in an email statement to county staff and department heads.

As spokesman, Burke Brennan is a familiar face and voice in county government, often quoted in news stories on a wide range of events and issues.

His father, William B. Brennan, Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday December 25, 2013 at St. Dominic’s Hospital. Mr. Brennan was a native of New York. He served in the Korean War on Okinawa Island and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He retired from Wheeling Corrugating Company and was a parishioner of St. Richard’s Catholic Church. Mr. Brennan is survived by his fiancé Janet Anderson; his children, Burke Brennan, Kelly Brennan McClure and Matt Brennan; sister, Mary Patricia Sullivan; brother, Jeff Brennan; 8 nieces and nephews; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
