Help with Healthcare Marketplace
10/11/2013, 6 a.m.
DeKalb residents and small-business owners can learn more about the Affordable Care Act and health insurance enrollment on Oct. 18 at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Clarkston.
Fourth District U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson is hosting the 10 a.m.-to-2 p.m. event.
Certified community health centers and Navigators will help qualified individuals and business owners apply for health insurance through the marketplace exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Johnson said it is essential that consumers take advantage of the opportunity to finally get affordable, quality and accessible health care.
“The Affordable Care Act is about securing affordable, quality and accessible health care as a right, not a privilege, for every American,” he said. “Yet it is also about wellness and prevention, economic security and entrepreneurship, the well-being of working families and the strength of the middle class.”
Co-sponsors include the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Georgians for a Healthy Future, Oakhurst Medical Center, AARP, American Cancer Society, Grady Hospital, Small Business Majority, and Georgia Voices.
Georgia Piedmont is at 495 N. Indian Creek Drive.
