A crisis intervention team was at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia Monday as students, faculty and staff mourned the loss of basketball standout Terrell Coleman. The freshman died on Sunday afternoon Oct. 27 after playing basketball. The cause of death is not yet known.
Coleman, listed as a 6 foot 5 inch freshman, was a small forward on the school’s basketball team. Basketball recruiting website Future150.com projected that Coleman would end up at a high-major college as a shooting guard, ranking him 13th in the nation for the 2017 recruiting class.
Coleman also played for the Atlanta Celtics, an A.A.U. youth travel basketball league focused on sending kids on the path to college.
Future150 offered prayers for Coleman’s family and calling him a “great kid.” The staff tweeted this message:
“Terrell Coleman was incredibly talented and an even better person. We were privileged to know him. Rest in peace.”
