DeKalb schools closed Wednesday due to the stom

1/28/2014, 2:02 p.m.

DeKalb school officials announced Tuesday that schools and District offices will be closed Wednesday because of the snow storm.

Hours earlier, the inclement weather and worsening traffic conditions around the metro area forced an early dismissal Tuesday. Buses left elementary schools at 1:30 p.m., high schools at 2:30 and middle schools at 3:15.

Parents were able to pick up students at anytime as teachers and staff remained at schools until all children were on buses or picked up, a news release said.

The wintry weather also forced delays and cancellations of county events planned for Tuesday night.

The rezoning meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Maloof Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. has been cancelled due to inclement weather. All items on the agenda will be rescheduled to Feb. 25, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.

The Community Engagement Meeting is rescheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Stephenson High School

Public Safety and Public Works will continue 24-hour operations as long as circumstances warrant. County administrative functions will resume Wednesday with a two hour delay, as offices will open at 10:30 a.m.
