Volunteers needed for Nancy Creek cleanup

DeKalb Watershed Management and Doraville are hosting the Nancy Creek cleanup on Sept. 20 and they are seeking volunteers.

Volunteers are needed on Sept. 20 to help clean up Nancy Creek in Doraville.

DeKalb Watershed Management and the city of Doraville are hosting the three-hour cleanup, which will begin at 9 a.m. at the Homeland Drive Greenspace, 2646 Homeland Drive.

Volunteers will help remove trash and debris from Nancy Creek, which flows into the Chattahoochee River. They should be prepared to get in and out of the stream, wade in knee-deep water, and walk over rocks and logs.

Closed-toe shoes are required. Hats, work gloves, bug repellent, and clothes that can get dirty are recommended.

Anyone younger than 18 must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
