Living Well workshops target chronic disease

Residents struggling with symptoms of chronic illness can attend the Living Well: Chronic Disease Self-Management Program beginning March 22 at the Scott Candler Library in Decatur.
It takes place 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class limit is 18. To register, call 404-508-7190, Ext. 2257.
The six-week program is presented by the Atlanta Regional Commission, Area Agency on Aging.
Living well means coping effectively with ongoing health conditions and symptoms such as fatigue, stress/anxiety, difficult emotions, pain, tense muscles, obesity, shortness of breath, poor balance and arthritis.
The workshops will teach pain and depression management; better management of medications; decision-making and goal-setting; how to improve balance and prevent falls; how to communicate with family, friends and health professionals; healthy eating, including how to read and interpret food labels; and relaxation techniques and how to get a good night’s sleep.
