Decatur to discuss 2012 millage rate

Decatur residents can attend public hearings on their city’s tentative 2012 millage rate of 13 mills recently adopted by the City Commission.

The rate is the same as the 2011 rate.

The commission adopted the tentative rate of 13 mills for general operations, capital improvements, bonded indebtedness and downtown development authority operations at its regular meeting on May 21.

It will hold public hearings regarding the issue at 7:30 p.m. on June 4 and June 18.

The final millage will be set at the Decatur City Commission meeting on June 18.

The city’s budget estimate for 2011-2012 was $18,815,000, and the revised estimate was $18,809,240, $5,760 less than the approved budget. The budget estimate for 2012-2013 is $20,092,960, $450,820 higher than the revised revenue estimates, according o the proposed budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.
