Volunteers to help seniors

Senior Connections, which provides services to DeKalb's seniors living at home, is getting some needed help from the Atlanta Gas Light Co.

The natural gas company will be providing volunteers once a week to deliver meals to seniors in the Kirkwood and Edgewood communities. It has also donated a van for use by the agency's Meals on Wheels program, which delivers hot meals to home-bound seniors.

Water restrictions lifted

Recent rainfalls coupled with normal water demand have prompted the county to lift the ban on outdoor watering of lawns and gardens and vehicle washing between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily. In lifting the restrictions, DeKalb CEO Liane Levetan applauded residents for their cooperation during the June 11 to July 20 ban and she encouraged every one to continue using good water conservation methods.
