Become a DeKalb Ambassador

DeKalb residents who love their county and can't shut up about it, now have an outlet. They can become county ambassadors and impress visitors with their knowledge and enthusiasm.

The DeKalb Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking volunteers who can give 10 hours a year to welcome, inform and assists visitors to DeKalb.

Ambassadors get free training, certification, a resource binder, shirt and name badge.

They also get to attend special appreciation feasts, and go on customized tours of DeKalb. For more information, call 404-687-2586.

Computer skills needed

Volunteers with computer skills are needed to assist patrons at the Hairston Crossing branch library. They will troubleshoot workstation problems and help patrons using the Library catalog, the Internet and software such as Microsoft Office and Encarta. For more information, call Volunteer Services at 404-370-8450, Ext. 2241.

Meals on Wheels

Meal on Wheels, the Senior Connections program that delivers hot meals to house-bound seniors, need volunteers weekday mornings to heat, pack and deliver meals at its Candler Road, Lithonia and Kelley Chapel Road sites. For more information, call 404-370-4082.
