Theater lovers can get a first look at "Enlightenment," a new play by playwright Calvin A. Ramsey, at a Feb. 9 reading at the Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta.

Ramsey will read aloud from the three- character play at 2 p.m. in the library's Heritage Auditorium.

The play examines aspects of the lives of slain rapper/poet Tupac Shakur and Black History Month founder Carter G. Woodson.

It explores the African American experience beyond the clich/d prism of slavery and the Civil Rights Movement by delving head long in the contemporary internal struggles of the African American community.

The reading is free. The library is at 101 Auburn Avenue, NE Atlanta. For more information, visit www.afplweb.com/aarl or call 404-730-4001, ext. 303.
