Parents and their kids are in for a treat during the 2008 Summer Camp Expo at the Mall at Stonecrest on March 29.

In addition to meeting and speaking directly with representatives from more than 30 day and overnight camps, they will get to see top-notch performances on the Main Stage near Sears.

The five-hour event kicks off at noon, but only after the Stillwaters Youth Sinfo Nia Orchestra has warmed everything up with a musical prelude starting at 11 a.m. The Stone Mountain-based orchestra is metro Atlanta's only African-American children's orchestra.

At noon, fitness motivator Ranette "Rae Rae" Clark and the Eagle Essence Dance Troupe will take the stage with an energy-packed performance designed to show the audience that exercising can be fun too.

This will be an encore performance for Rae Rae and the dancers. After rocking the stage at the Health & Wellness Expo in January, they are back by popular demand.

The Eagle Essence Dance Troupe is from Whitefoord Elementary School in Atlanta. Clark has been a fixture at the Health & Wellness and Summer Camp Expos hosted by CrossRoadsNews and the Mall at Stonecrest since 2006.

Some of Atlanta's most talented teens will be singing, dancing and cheering from the stage as well.

Vocalists Nia Imani Hunter, the 2008 North DeKalb Mall Jr. Idol winner; Dennis "Lil D" Wheeler, winner of the 2007 McDonald's "The Gift" Kids Gospel Talent Show; and India Scandrick, fresh from a Broadway stint as Young Nala in the "Lion King," will perform.

Dancers from the Conservatory of Dance & Fine Arts in Decatur, All 4 You Training Center in Lithonia and Pac's Kids from the Tupac Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain will show off their moves during the day.

Other acts include Pam & Buffy, the anti-drug duo, the Green Pastures Saints Step Team, and gymnasts from The Sportz Center, formerly Panthers House of Pride in Decatur.
