“They were just very helpful, more than just wanting to sell you a car,” said Shackelford of Stone Mountain. “I think they were going above and beyond. … They were just so patient.”
Shackelford didn’t think the Auto Gallery could find a vehicle big enough for the family, but they came through.
And for that, Shackelford is one of the readers who helped owner Malcolm Cunningham sweep three categories of CrossRoadsNews’ Best of East Metro Readers Choice Awards.
Cunningham won the title of “Best Local Entrepreneur.”
His Auto Gallery, at 4334 Snapfinger Woods Drive in Decatur, won “Best Auto Dealer Used” and “Best Auto Repair.”
The Auto Gallery was opened to handle the used car sales after Cunningham relocated his new car dealerships to Peachtree Industrial Road in Chamblee in 2010 as part of a Ford consolidation in the metro Atlanta area.
Shackelford’s daughter and son-in-law, Lenise and Cory Bostic, have children ranging in age from 8 months to 13 years old.
She said that with such a large contingent, they needed two cars to get around.
“When one broke down, that was a disaster,” said Shackelford, a retired Canby Lane Elementary School principal.
The dealership found them a Ford Expedition with a bench seat in front.
